The Spark Mail app provides a collaborative and secure email experience for East Rock members.
1. Download Spark Mail

2. Open Spark & Add Account

3. Choose “Set Up Manually”

- Account Type: IMAP
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.ionos.com
- Port: 993
- Security: SSL / TLS
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
5. Enter Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Settings
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.ionos.com
- Port: 587
- Security: STARTTLS
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
6. Save & Verify
Tap
Save and allow Spark to verify the connection. If prompted about certificates, choose
Trust.7. Final Settings (Recommended)
After setup, open the account settings inside Spark and confirm:
- IMAP Sync is enabled
- Push Notifications are enabled
- Signature is updated (remove default Spark branding if needed)
Troubleshooting Tips
- Make sure your password is correct — failed logins are usually authentication-related.
- Always use your full email address as the username.
- Do not use POP3 — IMAP keeps devices synced.
- If setup fails, double-check ports and SSL settings exactly as listed above.

Save / Sign In and allow Spark to verify the connection. If prompted about
security permissions, choose Allow.7. Final Settings (Recommended)
After setup, open the account settings inside Spark and confirm:
- IMAP Sync is enabled (keeps all devices aligned)
- Notifications are enabled
- Signature is updated (remove default Spark branding if needed)
Troubleshooting Tips
- Use your full email address as the username (not just the name before @).
- If login fails, it’s usually the password or a typo in the server name/port.
- Make sure SMTP is using 587 + STARTTLS (not 25).
- Do not use POP3 — IMAP is required for sync across devices.
